The value of leather exports in Turkey exceeded $311 million during the first two months of 2022
The industrial sector in Turkey has achieved a great achievement, after the leather industry in Turkey recorded a value of exports, which amounted to $178 million during February of the current year, and $311,299,000 during the first two months of this year.

The leather and leather goods sector increased by 38.1% during February
According to statistics from the Turkey Exporters Council (TIM), the leather and leather goods sector closed accounts for February of this year with exports amounting to $178 million, an increase of 38.1%, compared to the sector's exports in the same month last year.
While the value of the aforementioned sector's exports during the first two months of this year amounted to $311,299,000, an increase of 30% compared to the value of the sector's exports during the same period last year.
Russia is the largest importer of Turkish leather and its products
In the details of the data, Russia ranked first among the countries that import the most Turkish leather and its products, as the value of the sector’s exports to Russia during February of this year amounted to $15.5 million, achieving an increase of 30.2% over the sector’s exports to Russia during the same month last year.
Germany came in second place, as the exports of the leather sector and its products during February of this year amounted to $14.9 million, an increase of 58% compared to the sector's exports to Germany during February of last year.
Italy came in third place, the leather and leather goods sector's exports to Italy in February of this year amounted to $14.3 million, achieving remarkable progress of 97.8% compared to the exports of the same month last year.
The highest annual increase rate achieved by Slovakia
The highest annual increase in exports of the leather sector and its products during February of this year was for the sector's exports to Slovakia, which achieved an increase of 433.9%, with exports amounting to $1.5 million.
In classifying exports according to their destinations from groups of countries, the sector's exports to OECD countries stood out at a value of $89.5 million, achieving an increase of 64.5% compared to the exports of the same month last year.
The sector's exports to the European Union during February of this year amounted to $75.5 million, an increase of 61.9% compared to the exports of the same month last year.
The footwear sector accounted for the largest share of exports
In a media statement, he made to Anadolu Agency correspondent, Mr. Mustafa Şen Ocak, President of the Union of Exporters of Leather and Leather Products, spoke about the exports of the sub-sectors, saying:
"The highest value of exports of the leather sector and its products during February of this year was achieved by the footwear sector, with exports worth $118 million, an increase of 31.6% compared to its exports in the same month of last year, followed by the leather bags sector, with exports worth $28 million, with an advance by 66.3%. Then the semi-finished leather sector, with exports worth $21 million, an increase of 49.3%, then the leather and fur garments sector, with exports worth $10.7 million, an increase of 32.4% over its exports in February of last year”.
